About Elizabeth
Elizabeth has always wanted to be a teacher. From a very early age, she used to ask her teachers for extra copies of worksheets so that she could take them home and use them to play school with her family. (Elizabeth's great-grandparents, sister, and cousin were her star students!) This continued through her middle school years, stopping only when she started to have to spend more time working through homework and studying.
Fast forward to when it came time to decide what to study in college. It was immediately decided that education was the path Elizabeth would take, based on her passion for learning and helping others. This decision led to her studying education and earning her B.S. in Education from The College of New Jersey in 2014. TCNJ provided Elizabeth with invaluable experiences both in and out of the classroom, preparing her for anything the field of education might send her way.
Elizabeth spent the first two years of her teaching career as a Compensatory Education teacher, working with a variety of students in different non-public schools throughout Monmouth and Ocean Counties. After completing her second year, she moved on to work with the New Jersey Virtual School in both an administrative capacity and as an instructor. Having experience with teaching students online helps her to provide high-quality sessions to students she works with as a tutor.
In May 2020, Elizabeth graduated with her M. Ed. in Learning Design and Technology from Penn State. Her graduate school program provided her with experiences developing online courses and introduced her to various technologies which can aid in student learning. Elizabeth aims to apply what she learned during her time enrolled with Penn State to her tutoring, in order to provide students with the best possible learning opportunities.
More About Tutoring by Elizabeth
Tutoring by Elizabeth is a tutoring service that provides personalized learning experiences intended to build desired skills and knowledge identified by students and their families. Before scheduling the first session, potential clients are asked to take part in a consultation, where individual goals are discussed in order to allow for the most effective tutoring plan to be developed. Once a plan has been outlined, sessions can begin.
Students and their families will receive updates after each tutoring session regarding progress, and goals will be reviewed so that they are always kept at the forefront of the tutoring experience. This information is helpful for the tutor, learner, and the learner's family, as it allows for reinforcement of skills and reflection on what has been learned. As objectives are met, the topics of study can advance, with occasional reviews of previously covered material.
In addition to long-term tutoring programs, Tutoring by Elizabeth can also provide learners with short-term study options which can be particularly helpful for test prep purposes, or as a way to help prepare to return to school after a long break. Whatever your tutoring needs may be, Tutoring by Elizabeth can deliver!
